What Did Dead Horse Think?
I thought the first was better. But everything is still awesome.
With some musical numbers which got on my nerves and some jokes which were a bit flat, it did take some time to get into this, but after the second act we found ourselves loving this film. The jokes were hard on the references. There is a lego Bruce Willis. Subtitled Raptors. And the animation is just gorgeous. Theres something really satisfying about the lego style and sounds.
It’s fresh but still following the formula of the first movie. There are even PLOT TWISTS that will keep you super engaged until the end. There’s also some great new characters that we get to meet, plenty of hilarity, and a good story that offers heartwarming adventure into the Lego canon. I won’t lie things got a little bit confusing and almost messy towards the ending, but its’a movie about Lego for god sake, I’ll let is slide.
Should You Go See It?
If you’re 5 or 50, you’ll find something to appreciate and laugh about here. We were expecting to enter a cinema screen full of children, but in all honesty it was mainly adults. Not quite as tight on a storytelling level as the original but there is some great world building and has a really heart-felt message about learning what to love about yourself, even when everything is not awesome.
