Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s serves as the final instalment in the ‘infinity Saga’ which wraps up the first three phases of the MCU into a definitive and spectacular finale. This movie is no doubt the BIGGEST movie in the whole MCU and while things said about this movie during this review may seem like exaggeration, trust me they’re really not.
I was so excited to see this movie: I spent over 30 minutes trying to get a ticket online, I watched every trailer about 100 times, I read every theory under the sun and even wrote one myself, I also re-watched every movie in the MCU and along the way tried my utter best to mentally prepare myself for this movie but it still wasn’t enough. This movie is mind-blowing.
A Marvel Fan’s Dream:
Yes it’s 3 hours long, and no it really did not need an interval. You’re left on the edge of your seat throughout so the thought of even needing to go the toilet was not on my mind at all. The plot is a complete surprise, no one has completely predicted what will happen in the movie because so much happens which is unexpected. It genuinely feels like they got every single Marvel fan in a room and asked them what they wanted to see in an Avengers movie and they made it happen. I had high expectations for what I wanted to see in this movie and was worried that I would be disappointed but instead it completely gave me what I wanted and more. The first, second and third act all feel like their own separate movies but every moment truly matters.
This is a spoiler free review so I’ll be very careful with how much I give away but this movies big conclusion in the third act goes down as my personal favourite cinematic moment I have ever witnessed, it’s mind-blowing, enormous and left me cheering like a child. The movie has some questionable moments and some decisions that I didn’t feel 100% happy with but nothing is perfect, however Avengers: Endgame is as close as it gets.
The humour is brilliant and well placed and the movie as a whole is genuinely very funny. On top of the humour this movie is extremely emotionally impactful and you are certain to cry. This movie made me feel emotions that I’ve never felt while watching something before, I’m not ashamed to say that by the time the credits started rolling I was left with tears rolling down my face because of how overwhelmed I was. This movie really is something special.
Grief and Loss:
I enjoyed this movie a lot because when it comes down to it, it’s a story that revolves around the characters. Yes there is plenty of action and it’s amazing to watch but the character development and the relationships which are explored in this movie is genuinely beautiful. The story explores the themes of grief and loss, how each character feels the weight of the world on their shoulders and the responsibility to fix the mess they each believed they could of prevented.
The emotions in this movie are heavy, the acting is superb and we get to see a more serious side to characters like Ant-Man . Each character get’s their moment to shine and we get a real good look at how the events of Infinity War affected them, it’s almost daunting to see the negative effect these events have had on the characters that we know and love but it’s all necessary for the epic conclusion that eventually unfolds.
Avengers: Endgame is the best cinema/movie experience I have ever had and might just be the best one I ever have. I don’t think any movie could ever top it. The entire 3 hours is a love letter to every single Marvel fan that exists, it was made for the people who care for these characters and have done so for over 11 years. The best way to describe it is a masterpiece, everyone in the cinema laughed, cheered and cried. Once the credits roll you’re either crying or sat their completely overwhelmed and emotionally drained. This is no exaggeration, this movie is this big and It’s hard to think that anyone could be left unsatisfied. So all in all if you’re a Marvel fan or even slightly interested in the MCU movies, brush up on your knowledge and go see this movie, you won’t regret it.
