Le Mans ’66/Ford v Ferrari follows American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and British race car driver Ken Miles as they take on corporate suits, the laws of physics and their own demons in an attempt to build a revolutionary Ford race car and win the famous 24 hour Le Mans race in France. Despite this film having two different names, it knows exactly what it is. You may be wondering, what is this film? Well to put lightly, Ford v Ferrari is a breath-taking and heart-warming ride that will leave you utterly stunned from the moment the film begins all the way to the moment those credits roll… and long after.
Gorgeous Cinematography and a Heart-Warming Story:
There’s a lot to say about Ford v Ferrari and so little time, but one thing that needs to be mentioned is how undoubtedly gorgeous the cinematography is. From shiny shots of sexy cars to jaw dropping and mesmerising moments in the atmospheric sunset, every single moment in this movie is a sight for sore eyes. On top of this you have a thoroughly entertaining, hilarious and emotional story that is chokablock with endless amounts of heart. It’s shocking how hilarious and enjoyable this film actually is, very little films will leave you grinning from ear to ear through the majority of its runtime but Ford v Ferrari truly does such a thing.
Ford V Ferrari Ticks All Of The Boxes:
Ford v Ferrari ticks all the boxes: First of all it presents you with meaningful, flawed and loveable characters that you care for, secondly it introduces some smug corporate ‘villains’ to hate followed by an entertaining cause to root for, all leading to you being taken on a throughly entertaining and heart-racing journey packed with humour, emotion and some really satisfying moments. It’s like one of those Christmas hampers, instead of giving someone one single gift you just pack loads of their favourite things into one basket, make it all look nice and BAM. It’s the best gift they received that year.
Brilliant Performances Across The Board:
Oh and the performances: Christian Bale, Matt Damon and the rest of the cast all shine in their own special ways. The performances across the board are just brilliant yet this is the best I think I have ever seen of Bale, largely because his character is one of the most loveable and hilarious that I have seen in a very long time.
Probably The Best Film This Year:
Ford v Ferrari will make you feel things you haven’t felt before. It’s oozing with heart, emotion and pure passion. This is arguably one of the best films to be released this year and maybe this decade… yes it’s that good. Now you don’t need to like cars or racing to enjoy this film, Ford v Ferrari is about so much more than that, it’s about family, dreams, redemption and achieving the impossible. Please go see and support Ford v Ferrari/Le Mans ’66, you won’t regret it.
