Netflix’s hit series ‘Sex Education‘ won everyones hearts when it was released back in January 2019. Its authenticity, taboo subjects and loveable cast made the series instantly ‘bingeable’. Now all of your favourites – Otis, Maeve and Eric – are back in Sex Education Season 2 TOMORROW January 17th!
Where The Season Left Off
The debut season ended with a heck load of conflicts and many unanswered questions. After being in love with Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) for the entire season, Otis began a relationship with Ola (Patricia Allison),daughter of handyman Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt). Jakob and Otis’ mother, Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), liked one another romantically but neither teenager knows … yet.
Meanwhile Maeve, who spent much of season one struggling to survive on her own and struggling in silence, had to say goodbye to her currently only family member and life at school after taking the blame for his drug dealing at school. Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), who was bullied for no reason by Adam (Connor Swindells) for much of the season, is left conflicted when Adam kisses him but still refuses to be nice to him. Adam is sent to military school before we can see if anything changes.
What Will Happen In The Next Season?
Season two will see Otis try and come to terms with his newly found sexual urges with new girlfriend Ola, and moving on from the schools Sex Clinic and his relationship with Maeve. However, Moordale Secondary seems to have Chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education and find Otis rekindling his friendship with Maeve. This means there is a possibility that in Season 2, Maeve and Otis may actually get together.
The trailer also gives away that just as Otis begins to embrace his urges with his romance with Ola, his mother and Jakob also begins to embrace theirs. This appears to have a strain on his relationship with his mother, as we see Otis frustratingly knock over a game board opposite her.
What Season 2 brings for Maeve is more family trouble. From the trailer we get a glimpse of Maeve’s recovering addict mother Erin (Anne-Marie Duff). It is unclear yet whether this will help Maeve who spent most of S1 struggling in silence on her own, or create new problems for the character.
The S2 trailer gave us a glimpse at Eric and Adam’s relationship. We can expect tension between the two while Adam will deal with his conflicted feelings at military school, Eric is seemingly moving on with the new boy Rahim (Sami Outalbali).
